Eleni Ioannou

Eleni is a Performance Designer based in Cyprus. Having graduated the Theatre Design (BA Hons) course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2012, she has since been working across disciplines in the performing arts and cinema, both in Cyprus and the UK. With freelance performance design being her main occupation, Elenis credits include set/ costume design, production design, scenic art, assisting, making, writing. Her collaborations include most of the big theatres and festivals of the island, however she enjoys working in a multitude of scales and spaces, theatrical or found. She has been part of the wider creative team of THOCs Apothikes manifestations Young in a desert island 2020-2024. She currently teaches Theatre Design to undergraduate drama students at Vladimiros Kafkarides School of Drama in Nicosia.

 

Her costumes for THOC’s production of Lysistrata earned her a nomination for the young creator of the year award in THOCS 2023 awards edition. Her work has been exhibited in SENA Design Exhibition in Rabat, Morocco 2022. In April 2022 she co-curated the international symposium Performance Design Futures 2022.

She has been secretary of CYCSTAT, the Cyprus Centre of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians since 2022. She is a founding member of 8x8 and Join the Dots theatre companies.
